Welcome to the Inaugural 'Whitsundays Creative Arts Festival' 29th June to the 7th July.
Koala Conventions have facilitated 17 years of annual embroidery and textile events in Brisbane and now looking to combine the Creative Inspiration at these events with a stunning location have moved it to the beautiful location of the Whitsundays. To spend a week embroidering and visiting the stunning islands in the Great Barrier Reef will do wonders for the soul. What's more. the Whitsundays weather during this time of year is just beautiful which makes it perfect to take a break from the 'Winter Blues' you may be experiencing in other locations. Whether you are travelling with friends, partners or alone you will be made welcome and will be well looked after at this event. Our oldest student, the lovely Telka, is 98 and she flies in from Alice Springs every year on her own!
We are offering over 55 x 2 day workshops in the following disciplines:

Whether you are a complete beginner or would like to learn these wonderful skills or consider yourself an Artisan already you are welcome to join us.
You can book in for between one and three workshops and as few or as many of the extra activities we have on offer to ensure that you will take away those perfect memories.

Flights to Whitsunday Coast/Proserpine Airport
The Whitsunday Coast airport is located close to Proserpine and is currently serviced by three commercial airlines: Jetstar, Virgin and Tiger. Please check the website www.webjet.com.au for cost comparisons and service. Jetstar currently provides direct daily flights too and from Brisbane and direct flights from Melbourne 3 times a week. Virgin Australia provides two direct flights daily to and from Brisbane on weekdays and one on the weekend. Tiger Air provides direct flights from Sydney on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
We are providing Proserpine Airport Transfers for the 30 minutes journey too and from Airlie Beach at a cost of $60.00 return. If you book this option please email us and let us know your flight times when you have them and we will arrange the transfers.
It is possible to fly into the beautiful Hamilton Island or Mackay Airports however for Hamilton Island you would need to take a ferry to the mainland (approx $60.00) and as Mackay is approximately 150km away it would be suggested that you hire a car to get you to Airlie Beach.
Recommended Accommodation Options
We have previously stayed at all of the resorts listed below and all come with our recommendation. Most (except the Big 4 Resort) are within walking distance of the venue at Cannonvale State School. It is an easy walk along the boardwalk from Airlie Beach, take in the stunning views & scenery and possibly grab a coffee at number of restaurants and cafes along the way. There is also a good bus service that does the circuit every 20 minutes and there is plenty of car parking at the venue.

These are the closest villas to the venue and only about a 5 minute walk. They have spacious 2 Bedroom Villas which consist of a double bed and 2 singles, large lounge, kitchen and dining room and laundry. The 3 bedroom apartments consist of 2 queen beds and 2 singles.The penthouse apartments consist of 2 Queen and 2 singles, the master bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom. Beach Court Villas are located about 5 minutes walk from Airlie Beach shopping centre.
