Koala Conventions - International Embroidery, Textile and Creative Events for over 10 Years

Much More than just Workshops!

We still have our 2010 event in Perth to happen and are hoping that those who know about us and our customer service spread the word and pass the word on that we are coming to Perth.

We hope you enjoy browsing our 2011 Brisbane event brochure and that you find many projects to tempt you. This year we have 85   fabulous two and four day workshops teaching a wide range of embroidery techniques, and other needle arts such as beading,   felting, appliqué, creative knitting and crochet. For even more     variety we have workshops in creative fabric dyeing and silk painting. Then for the gents, or the ladies wanting to save on finishing off their own art works, we have an expert Picture Framer providing tuition for the beginner through to advanced framing.

This event is our eleventh year in Brisbane, where again we have our great team of regular tutors and welcome six new ones to the event. These twenty five expert tutors, authors & designers bring a wealth of experience to our events, and we feel very fortunate to be able to work with them. Not only are they true specialists in their chosen field, they are a great bunch of people too! They play a huge part in creating the atmosphere of fun and laughter that our events have become famous for. We work hard to maintain this atmosphere and level of customer service, which is why so many of our customers return the following year. These events began in 2000 with just four tutors and twenty students. We have now become annual hosts to over three hundred people from all around Australia and a great many from overseas.

The venue is Brisbane Girls’ Grammar School, which is ideally suited to such a large event. The blend of old and new architecture within tropical grounds provide interesting and relaxing surrounds to enjoy during breaks. Wheel chair and disabled access is taken care of by carefully planning the location of our workshops. Our event’s catering is first class with a large choice of menus to suit all tastes and diets and is included in the fee.              Furthermore the venue is conveniently located very close to several choices of accommodation and is even within walking distance of the city centre.

For those who are not too tired after the day in class, our tutors provide free evening presentations on a variety of subjects or mini workshops to further your skills or to just try a new technique. These are very popular with our students and are always in great demand.

During the nine days of this convention, we arrange a Grand Banquet evening, giving everyone the chance to dress up, and enjoy each others company. We also have at least two other less formal get togethers during the week, so you can meet other students, Tutors and the Koalas team over a drink or two. On Wednesday we take a break from workshops and arrange a choice of two optional tours to local places of interest, where you can enjoy shopping and sightseeing.

We have the very exciting Gallery and Koalas Shop. The Gallery features all the projects for next years workshops, where you can browse over 85 works of art on display, this is a real treat for the enthusiast and is especially popular during our open days where you can see the works up close while making your choices for 2012! Our very large shop features a huge range of Tutors kits and a myriad of books and embroidery supplies, many not easily available.

You will leave our events knowing you have had great value for money, having learnt from the best, enjoyed good food in great company and made many new friends. To help spread the cost of attending, we have a very popular instalment payment option, where you secure your workshop places with a deposit on booking and spread the balance over the months leading up to the event. You are welcome to join us for just one workshop or to make a holiday of it and join us for the whole nine days!

If you have any queries about our events, please do not hesitate to contact us, and we hope to see you in July!

Regards
